Ideas

Hello everybody, now is the time to post ideas. Good ideas. Ideas that seem at least somewhat fantasy-ish. October is already almost over, and I have until the end of November to come up with a decent plot.

Sooo...

Please post comments with your plot ideas.

Recap:
I am making this blog for ideas to help my eighth grade project.
My eighth grade project is to make an RPG (not a rocket propelled Grenade launcher)
which stands for a Role Playing Game.

In the comments, I would be very happy if you all told me plausible ideas for my eighth grade project.
Keep in mind that RPG maker can not make 3D games and is not ridiculously powerful. I.e. it can't make games like Halo or whatever. It makes classic RPGs.

  1. If you mean basic plot ideas I would recommend using a sort of final fantasy I style plot, with either 1 main character or a group or adventuring party and have them have to go to multiply dungeons and so on and most likely have to collect a certain number of macguffins.

  2. This sounds like an awesome project. I love fantasy RPGs. Think about what type of characters you want: knights, mages, ninjas, thieves, clerics etc. Then think about what type of races you want: human, elves, hobbits, orcs, goblins. You can make up your own too! That would probably be more fun anyway. Just remember each class and each race has to have specific pros and cons. For example, an elf mage is not going to be strong as others, but will be very smart and fast...things like that.
Nickan made a good point that you'll probably want to do either a group or a main character scenario. I personally prefer groups because I feel like I can customize my party better that way and get a little bit of everything.
Now, for the plot you can either do a dungeon raider which is basically just moving from dungeon to dungeon ridding it of all the bad guys, or you can develop some type of quest where your party has to find information about something like a lost princess or why all of the children in the region are disappearing. Each place they go gives them more info or sends them in a new direction. That sort of thing.

Check out games like Diablo and Battleheart.

I hope this helps and keep me posted!

  3. MacGuffins, eh Nickan? :P

Anyway, maybe it could begin with kind of nothing happening, and just going to different dungeons, and then there happens to be this hidden main plot. That is hidden and not evident at the beginning.

    And hidden. -Sams
